A plank boardwalk through a green forest

What we are building

What we are designing or building now, beside what already runs.

Wherever the site describes what runs now, it adds a short line on what we are building beside it. Those lines are gathered here, each with a sentence.

Everything on this page carries the In development label: it is being designed or built, and participants have not used it yet. We give no dates. When something runs, its description moves to the page where it belongs.

The method: what runs now →

The interview

More versions of the interview

In development

Interviews are matched to the scope of a role. We are building more versions, for more kinds of roles.

The interview →

Defining a role's demands

In development

Tools for defining a role's demands with the organization, by the scope of the work the role asks for.

An interview in text only

In development

The interviewer speaks its questions and shows them as text. We are building a way to take the whole interview in text, without the voice, where that suits the person or the setting.

The analysis

Version 2 of the rubrics and the report

In development

Version 2 builds on the rubrics of version 1, among them the analysis of time horizons drawn from Elliott Jaques and Gillian Stamp, and makes them more robust. It keeps the five skill domains, perhaps updated. A later version may align the assessment's skill domains with the skill library's.

Analyzing the complexity of thinking step by step

In development

The interview is analyzed one passage at a time, the links between passages judged one by one, and every judgment kept, so that any result can be traced to the passages it rests on. We are testing it against expert-scored cases before it is used with anyone.

Differentiation and integration

In development

An analysis of how a person tells apart the different sides of a question, and how they bring them together.

Metacognition

In development

An analysis of how a person reflects on their own thinking.

Checking

Checking analyses against the measurement

In development

Checking each analysis automatically against the measurement's figures.

A second analysis

In development

A second, separate way of analyzing parts of the interview, so that two analyses of the same passage can be compared.

Matching each step to what suits it

In development

Each step runs on what suits it: plain code, a yes-or-no judgment, a small language model or a larger one. We are building the tests that show which suits each step, to run again as models change, with attention to where the data goes.

Skill development

The skill library, rebuilt

In development

We are rebuilding the skill library as one cross-linked map of the skills that leading asks of people, from broad domains down to what a person can practice, one domain at a time, starting with self-mastery, and linking it to the learning loops.

The skill library →

Skill library portal

In development

A way to start from a need rather than an assessment. A person describes what they need; the portal asks questions and helps them navigate the skill library to the skills that matter most for it, and an AI design partner then helps them build learning loops for those skills. Development mentors can use it to guide the people they work with.

We are building it for use with a development mentor first, and later by people on their own.

Seeing what has moved

In development

The assessment can be repeated when there is reason to see what has moved. We are building a way to compare a person's assessments over time.

Programs and mentors

Thinking Clearly and Connecting Clearly

In development

The first and third parts of Leading Clearly, a program for managers. Communicating Clearly, the second, is running. We are open to piloting the program with a group of managers, and interest from organizations moves its development forward.

Leading Clearly →

Certification for development mentors

In development

Certification is earned through the steps of mentor orientation, in a mentor's own work with clients, not in a class. It is individual for now; groups may come later.

Interest from organizations and partners moves what we build forward.
